Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds Lisa Brown’s award-winning Super Index and Property Records Notification (PRN) program is no stranger to capturing national attention. Tech giant Google showcased Brown’s innovations at the recent Google Next ’19 Conference. One of only a few software applications selected by Google for a presentation on utilizing Google Cloud, Brown’s Super Index and Property Records Notification (PRN) were highlighted for their ability to quickly return search results.
“Traditionally, online land records databases are limited to searching pre-indexed fields like grantor and grantee,” says Brown. “With Super Index, users have the ability to search our records by any term in five different languages. This enables us to accommodate Oakland County’s diverse population.”
The presentation of Super Index and its benefits at the popular conference is an indication of Google’s interest in making Oakland County a model for other government agencies to use it.
“The Google Cloud Next Conference is known for generating ideas and technologies that become commonplace in business and government, so it’s humbling for my office to be positioned as a leader,” adds Brown. “I’m honored to have my programs recognized for their innovation using technology while bringing better service to the residents of Oakland County.”
Register of Deeds Property Record Notification (PRN) system was a 2016 Achievement Award Winner in the Civic Education and Public Information category by the National Association of Counties. The PRN system alerts homeowners any time a document pertaining to their specific property is recorded at the Oakland County Register of Deeds Office. The free service notifies property owners about potentially fraudulent activity such as forged deeds and bogus liens that have been filed on their property without their knowledge. Individuals can use the Super Index and/or sign up for PRN at www.ocmideeds.com.
