The Oakland County Bar Association presented “When Immigration and Criminal Defense Intersect” on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at the OCBA offices in Bloomfield Hills. Attendees were invited to bring a lunch and hear from speaker Clarence M. Dass (pictured) of The Dass Law Firm PLLC. Immigration is a complex and rapidly-changing body of law. It is important for criminal defense attorneys – who are not immigration law specialists – to properly advise immigrant clients in order to avoid the collateral consequences of a plea deal or conviction. This seminar presented an overview of the current state of the law and provided practical advice for representing the immigrant client.
