Recognizing the State of Emergency declared by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the Wayne County Circuit Court Family Division-Domestic Relations Section, in conjunction with the Wayne County Clerk, is implementing remote filing options using email and fax for Emergency and Non-Emergency filings.
Effective April 20, the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center location will be closed to the public.
Hearings in the Family Domestic Section are anticipated to resume Monday, May 11, using Zoom technology. The court will send electronic notices for all hearings effective May 11 forward. All hearings will be conducted via Zoom until further notice.
All Emergency and Non-Emergency filings may be filed by email or fax, negating the need to file in person. Instructions on how to file may be found at the Family Domestic Section's website at www.3rdcc.org/divisions/family-domestic. The court has put an email and fax filing system into place so that parties and attorneys can easily file while the courthouse is closed to the public.
In addition, parties and attorneys are still able to mail filings to the County Clerk by addressing them to Wayne County Clerk, Room 201, Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, Two Woodward Avenue, Detroit, 48226.
The email and faxing measures enable parties and attorneys to comply with Gov. Whitmer's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order.
Updates as to the Family Division-Domestic Relations Section services will be posted at www.3rdcc.org. For other Friend of the Court and Domestic Relations inquiries, call 313-224-6639.
