      Jack C. Davis

Attorney Jack C. Davis, founding member of the Loomis Law Firm in Lansing where he practiced business and real estate law, died May 28 at the age of 81.

As part of the Business Transactions, Real Estate, Business Entities and Tax Law Departments, Davis managed a large client base, providing expert legal counsel to business clients; and also practiced in the area of sports and entertainment law. 

He served on several international delegations to advise government leaders on trade and international tax matters for the development of a free market economy.     

Davis, who earned his law degree at Harvard University, is listed in the 2018 Edition of Best Lawyers in America, as well as the 2018 Edition of Preeminent Lawyers, maintaining that rating for over 25 years. Listed in Super Lawyers, Lawyers of Distinction, Leading Lawyers and Top Lawyers, Davis recently received the Lexis/Nexis Martindale-Hubbell AV Peer Review Rated for Ethical Standards and Legal Ability Award, and was previously honored with the Farhat Outstanding Attorney Award from the Ingham County Bar Association. 

Prior to joining the Loomis Law Firm in 1966, Davis was associated with Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.

Davis served as president of the Lansing Rotary; chaired the Regional Blue Ribbon Panel on Retention of General Motors; was a long-time member of the Lansing School District Board of Education (twice serving as president); was a former chair of the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce; and had chaired the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP).  He and his wife Sue were awarded with the Outstanding Philanthropist Award in 2012 by the Capital Region Community Foundation.
