After a long spring and summer, the Eastern District of Michigan Chapter of the Federal Bar Association will kick off its luncheon program with the 2020 State of the Court Luncheon on Wednesday, October 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This luncheon will be virtual.
In her state of the court address, U.S. District Court Chief Judge Denise Page Hood will discuss the annual highlights, initiatives and accomplishments of the district court, along with the challenges faced by the court as we negotiate through this worldwide pandemic.
The chapter will also recognize:
- Reginald Turner, winner of the 2020 Cook-Friedman Civility Award
- Valerie Newman, winner of the 2020 2020 Gilman Award
Unlike in past years, this year's State of the Court Virtual Luncheon will be preceded by "Small Group Socials" (SGCs) before the luncheon begins. These SGCs will be online social gatherings, with firm partners and individual ticket holders randomly broken down into smaller groups and attended by the judges of our illustrious bench. The Small Group Socials will start at 11:30 a.m., 30 minutes before the luncheon.
Cost for the luncheon is $17 for FBA members and $27 for non-members/guests. To register, visit www.fbamich.org and click on "events."
