Case processing for landlord-tenant cases extended

The Michigan Supreme Court on Monday issued an update to Administrative Order 2020-17. The Order extends the COVID case processing for landlord-tenant cases to March 31, 2021, consistent with the CDC Order issued on January 29. The complete order was amended on December 29.

The order requires the court to inform parties of the right to counsel, about the availability of rental assistance, and that a judgement is not necessary for a defendant to receive assistance. Parties must also be advised that mediators are available to help resolve cases and that issuing of a Conditional Dismissal is a possible outcome.
