Patti Dib appointed chief of staff for the Oakland County Board of Commissioners

Patti Dib was appointed as the next chief of staff by Chairman David T. Woodward (D-Royal Oak) and confirmed by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners at last Thursday’s meeting. She is currently the Macomb County Board of Commissioners’ chief of staff and will begin her new position in Oakland County on April 9.

"As Oakland County's legislative body, the Board of Commissioners plays a key role in county government, especially pertaining to public policy and oversight of the budget,” Dib said. “I am excited to join the team, and I look forward to helping commissioners with their upcoming vital work navigating post-pandemic recovery issues, as well as utilizing funding from the American Rescue Plan to best serve Oakland County residents."

As chief of staff for the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, Dib will direct the daily operations of the Board and its staff. She will serve as a spokesperson for the Board and act as a liaison between the Board and its chairperson, members and committees, as well as between the Board and County Executive staff and representatives from other governmental offices. Additionally, she will provide commissioners with guidance and analysis related to their duties, legislation, Board programs and the county budget.

“Patti Dib brings years of administrative, legislative, policy, and communications leadership to this important role,” Woodward said. “With extensive experience in county government, the residents of the county will be served well knowing Patti is here to help support the entire governing body of Oakland County, and help take our county to the next level.”

In addition to her previous chief of staff experience, Dib has been a public relations account executive for Hass MS&L and KRM Communications. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication/Public Relations from Oakland University.

“We are excited to have Patti Dib join our team,” Minority Caucus Chair Michael Spisz (R-Oxford) said. “Her diverse skill set will continue to allow the Oakland County BOC to function at a high level along with driving improvements in the future. Welcome, Patti.”

Dib is replacing Chris Ward, who was appointed deputy county executive in February.

“I'm excited that we've found a new chief of staff who has the experience to hit the ground running," Board Vice Chairwoman Marcia Gershenson (D-Bloomfield Township) said. "There was an incredible pool of candidates, and I have the utmost confidence that Ms. Dib will serve the Board well in this new role."
