Firm to offer webinar on preventing wire fraud

McDonald Hopkins continues its Cyber Savvy Series with Session 2 on "Wire Fraud How to Prevent and How to Respond." The webinar will take place Thursday, November 18, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Wire fraud losses are on the rise worldwide, costing unsuspecting companies millions of dollars in what is often the result of a single lapse in awareness. The good news is that these losses, with appropriate safeguards, are largely preventable. When a loss does occur, if the mistake is noted and acted upon in a timely manner, fraudulent wire transfers are often recovered.

In this webinar, presented by the McDonald Hopkins Data Privacy and Cybersecurity group, Colin Battersby (Detroit office) and Robert Cohen (West Palm Beach office) along with panelist Douglas Pollock, president and founder of IDSnetwork Inc., will provide proactive, practical tips to help navigate risk when handling wire transfers, including the appropriate response to fraud and tools for recovery.

Topics will include:

  • Security of your network
  • Preventive protocols as to the transfer of funds
  • Who to call when a loss is discovered
  • Role of Law Enforcement
  • Urgency when dealing with wire frauds
  • Initial response and investigation
  • Recovery options
  • Data Privacy issues piggybacking on an attack
