Clarence Dass
Clarence Dass, a member of the State Bar of Michigan Representative Assembly, died Sunday, May 29, the age of 36.
Dass spent nearly five years as an assistant Oakland County prosecutor before founding The Dass Law Firm in Bloomfield Hills. An active member of the Oakland County Bar Association, he managed the firm while also practicing in family and criminal law.
He was appointed to the SBM Representative Assembly in April 2022 to represent Oakland County's 6th Circuit.
Dass was the recipient of numerous awards. The Oakland County executive named him one of the "Elite 40 Under 40" in 2017, Leadership Oakland named him a "Leader of Leaders" in 2018, and the State Bar of Michigan awarded him its Unsung Hero Award in 2019.
Just weeks before his death, the Oakland County Bar Association named Dass the recipient of its 2022 Frances R. Avadenka Memorial Award in honor of his work raising awareness of colon cancer by sharing his personal experience.
Dass is survived by his wife, Dr. Renee Dhar Dass, and his two children, twins who were to arrive any day at the time of his death.
Friends and family gathered June 3 for a funeral mass at St. Hugo of the Hills Church in Bloomfield Hills followed by a burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
