Lawyer stress is at an all-time high, and issues such as burnout, substance abuse, and other mental health challenges permeate our profession. While money is certainly not the only contributor to those issues, it is the leading cause of stress in America. Money touches almost every area of attorneys' lives, yet most are never taught to manage it. Couple that with rising debt burdens and costs of living, which results in a recipe for disaster-or at the very least missed opportunities-for many lawyers.
The American Bar Association will present a webinar to learn how to reduce the anxiety caused by financial stressors to help be a better lawyer and effectively represent clients. "Lawyer Wellbeing: The Keys to Better Personal Finances" will be offered online Monday, August 15, beginning at 2 p.m.
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants will be able to:
• Understand the connection between lawyer well-being and the affects on your practice and ability to serve your clients
• Implement best practices for budgeting and debt repayment
• Identify saving and investment strategies
• Improve their money mindset, including the way they think about themselves and their ability to manage their money
Cost for the webinar is $150 for non-members and ABA members can attend for free. To register, visit www.americanbar.org and click on "events."
