ABA National Aging and Law Conference to spotlight elder abuse, Social Security and guardianship

Experts from across the country will address emerging trends in law and policy concerning older adults, including guardianship and Social Security, at the American Bar Association virtual 2022 National Aging and Law Conference, November 9-11.

Sponsored by the ABA Commission on Law and Aging, the conference features Edwin Walker, deputy assistant secretary for aging with the Administration on Aging, who will outline creative ways to reach underserved legal clients during the session on “Innovative Elder Rights Programs,” from noon to 1:35 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9.

Paul Greenwood, former deputy district attorney in the San Diego District Attorney’s office, will share tips on the early indicators of abuse, reducing the risk of becoming an elder abuse victim, and how lawyers can start an effective team to combat escalating crime against older adults from noon to 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.

The  ABA Commission on Law and Aging leads the association in strengthening and securing the legal rights, dignity, autonomy, quality of life and quality of care of older adults.
