An investiture ceremony for Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Amanda J. Shelton (center) was conducted on Thursday, March 23, in the Board of Commissioners Auditorium at the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac. Michigan Court of Appeals Judge Sima G. Patel (left) administered the oath of office to Shelton and Oakland County Circuit Court Chief Judge Jeffery Matis (right) happily welcomed Shelton to the bench. Shelton has taken over the Family Division docket of Judge Mary Ellen Brennan who took over the General Jurisdiction docket of retired Judge Chabot. Shelton is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School. Prior to joining the bench, she was the founding partner of Shelton & Deon Law Group. Before starting her own firm, she was an associate attorney with Pepper Hamilton where she served in their commercial litigation department. As a member of the State Bar of Michigan, she served on the Family Law Council and had been involved in the Family Law, Labor and Employment Law, LGBTQA Law, and Probate and Estate Planning sections.
