On Wednesday, a Macomb County jury convicted 21 year old Marques Watson of Detroit on two counts after a five day jury trial.
On November 1, 2021, Watson drove four co-defendants who forced three victims into an apartment at gunpoint in Sterling Heights. They stole personal belongings from the apartment and a 2016 Charger. Watson fled police and eventually hid from the police with three of the gunmen in an apartment in Warren where they were all arrested.
Watson was found guilty of conspiracy to commit armed robbery (life felony,) and fleeing a police officer in the third degree (five year felony.)
The defendant will be sentenced on Thursday, June 15, at 8:30 a.m. in front of Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Faunce.
“Thank you Sterling Heights Police Department, Warren Police Department and the FBI Joint Task Force for getting five guns off the streets, including three stolen guns and one with an attachment that made it fully automatic,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
