'Accessory Dwelling Units' focus of Virtual Planners Gathering

Oakland County Planning, Zoning, and Land Use will conduct a Virtual Planners Gathering on “Accessory Dwelling Units, Not Just for Granny” Wednesday, June 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. via Zoom.

Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are being touted as an affordable and logical option to meet demand for additional housing in urban, suburban, and rural areas. Often referred to generically as “Granny Flats,” they can provide a broader housing design and market alternative. Guest speakers Shawn Winter, planning director, Traverse City, and Chris Cheng, city planner, City of Ann Arbor will discuss what has been the municipal experience with ADUs in Michigan.

Anyone with questions should contact Jim Schafer at schaferj@oakgov.com or 248-285-2321.
