9th Annual Art Fish Fun Festival taking place Saturday

The 9th Annual Art Fish Fun Festival will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Beaudette Park, located at 786 Orchard Lake Road in Pontiac. This free public event provides art and environmental educational activities for the entire family.

“This is always a great experience for families with little kids to adults of all ages. This event was conceived ten years ago by my assistant, Alyssa Taube, The Art Experience, and the City of Pontiac. I am very proud of how it has grown to become an amazing annual event,” said Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash. He explained that the pandemic caused the event to be canceled, and interrupted the annual physical community gathering in 2020.

In recognition and observance of River Day (June 10) which coincides with Michigan’s Free Fishing Weekend (June 10-11) and Great Lakes and Fresh Water Week (June 3-11), the Art Fish Fun Festival was established to bring attention to the importance of preserving the environment. It also focuses attention on the importance of our water resources and its value for every one.

A special one-hour cleanup will begin at 11 a.m. Volunteers will be provided with bags, gloves, and trash pickers. A free lunch consisting of barbecue ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, beverages, ice cream, and other items will be offered.

Activities included are fishing with Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash, the Dirt Doctors, carnival games, fishing with a drone, and much more. Information will be shared by the United Way for Southeastern Michigan which has partnered with the festival for the very first-time.

The Art Fish Fun Festival is a collaborative community partnership consisting of private, public, and non-profit stakeholders. For more information about the Art Fish Fun Festival, visit Facebook at waterresourceOC.

The Art Fish Fun Festival is organized by the Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office, Pure Oakland Water, the City of Pontiac, the Clinton River Watershed Council, and the Art Experience.
