Webcast explores 'Everyday Ethics' for attorneys, August 10

American Law Institute Continuing Legal Education will present a webcast on "Everyday Ethics: Seven Rules for Legal Practice" on Thursday, August 10, from 2 to 3 p.m.

Potential legal ethics violations lurk behind every corner throughout an attorney's day-to-day practice. Attorneys need to keep a watchful eye to ensure they are not only complying with the model rules of professional conduct, but also taking steps to protect themselves from malpractice. This webcast will provide a review of seven of the most common issues that lead to ethical problems in any kind of legal setting.

A professional liability defense lawyer will explore best practices and the applicable Model Rules of Professional Conduct and ethics opinions that guide us through the potential pitfalls with:

• Client communications
• Joint representations
• Texting with clients
• Conflicts arising out of relationships with opposing counsel
• Returning a client's file
• ABA Formal Ethics Opinion 503 and the No Contact Rule
• Prospective client conflicts when can they be waived and what needs to be in a waiver

Cost for the webcast is $199. To register, visit www.ali-cle.org.
