On Thursday, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) announced that leading cabinet manufacturer Cabinetworks Group is expanding in Livonia with support from the Michigan Strategic Fund. The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $14.2 million and create 110 high-wage corporate and professional services jobs. Michigan was chosen for the project over competing sites in other states because of the company’s longstanding history and existing talent base in the state.
“Cabinetworks is driving $14.2 million of investment and creating 110 good jobs in Southeast Michigan, underscoring the strength of our talented workforce and building on our economic momentum,” said Whitmer. “We’re pleased to support Cabinetworks’ expansion in Livonia and look forward to working with the company as it continues to grow here and add jobs for Michiganders. Together, we can continue to send a clear message that everyone is welcome to make it in Michigan.”

Cabinetworks Group is the largest privately-owned kitchen and bath cabinet manufacturers in the U.S. Its portfolio features 16 brands including iconic names such as KraftMaid®, Merillat®, and Yorktowne®, among others. The company operates 14 manufacturing and assembly plants and five cabinet component manufacturing facilities throughout the U.S. Headquartered in Ann Arbor with an administrative office in Adrian, Cabinetworks currently employs 259 Michigan residents.
The company seeks to centralize its corporate functions to better serve its customer base and attract and retain talent that will support business management and growth initiatives. Cabinetworks plans to relocate its headquarters into a facility in Livonia. The company is currently making significant improvements and renovations to create a modern headquarters incorporating the latest technology to facilitate teamwork and collaboration among its more than 8,000 employees nationwide.

The project will bring immediate high-wage corporate and professional services jobs to the region and will help secure future investment by the company in Michigan. As a result, it is being supported with a $600,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
