Board appoints commissioner to represent District 3

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners voted to appoint Ann Erickson Gault (D-Troy) to represent county commission District 3, which includes Hazel Park, Madison Heights and portions of Troy, during its meeting last Thursday, November 16.

“Commissioner Erickson Gault is a strong addition to the Board,” said Oakland County Board Chair David T. Woodward (D-Royal Oak). “Her background in the law, passion for helping people and experience in local government makes her an excellent choice for this appointment, and we all look forward to working with her to expand economic opportunities for everyone!”

Erickson Gault was recently reelected to serve on the Troy City Council, where she has served since November 2019. Professionally, she is an attorney, specializing in appeals and contract legal writing and research for individual and small firm lawyers. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Manchester University and a law degree from the University of Toledo.

“Having sat on the city council for the largest city in Oakland County, I’m looking forward to being a voice for the city of Troy and getting to know the people of Madison Heights and Hazel Park,” Erickson Gault said. “All three cities have amazing diversity, and I am hoping to have the opportunity to work with the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission because I’d like to continue Commissioner McGillivray’s legacy of promoting the natural resources our district and county have to offer.”

Erickson Gault is a past chair and member of the Providing Access to Legal Services Committee for the Oakland County Bar Association. She also does pro bono work with the Family Law Clinic.

The commission seat had been vacant since the death of longtime Commissioner Gary R. McGillivray who passed away November 3. He had served as a county commissioner since 2008.
