Symposium looks at legal pedagogy

The Law Review at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will host the 108th Law Review Symposium on Friday, March 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event will be taking place in-person at the school’s downtown location, 651 E. Jefferson Ave. in Detroit.

This year’s symposium is titled “Law School 101: An Exploration of Legal Pedagogy.” Detroit Mercy Law welcomes legal professionals, students, academics, scholars, practitioners, and other stakeholders from across the country to discuss topics involving legal pedagogy.

Legal pedagogy refers to the study and practice of teaching in law school. The practical side of teaching law—such as lesson planning, course design, and assessment methods—as well as the theoretical side, are both important aspects of legal pedagogy. Effective legal pedagogy seeks to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical framework necessary to succeed in the modern legal field. This includes developing critical thinking and problem-solving abilities and an appreciation of the importance of justice and fairness in the legal system.

Registration for the symposium is required but is free and open to the public.  To register, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2024-detroit-mercy-law-review-symposium-tickets-751133700117?aff=oddtdtcreator.
