Animal Law Section to present Sadie Award

The Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct the Sadie Award Ceremony honoring Bark Nation on Sunday, April 28, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wayne State University Law School, 471 W. Palmer Ave. in Detroit.

The Animal Law Section created the Sadie Award to honor significant contributions to the well-being of animals made by Michigan individuals or organizations not involved in the legal or legislative systems. Bark Nation's mission is to end canine cruelty and save lives. Its #PitnessProtection program investigates dogfighting, provides live-evidence sheltering and #LifeAfterDogfighting placement. It also provides shelter enrichment and services to dogs of Detroit residents.

Special guests at the ceremony will include members of Bark Nation board and volunteers, SBM Animal Law Section Council and Section members, Kerry McLaughlin, Bark Nation co-founder and Board president, and Kelly McLaughlin, Bark Nation co-founder.
