The Crime Victim Rights Unit of the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office is proud to announce the first ever event for crime survivors: "Options, Services, and Hope for Crime Survivors.” Thanks to a federal grant from the National Association of VOCA Assistance Administrators (NAVAA), this event is offered free of charge to the public and aims to provide crucial support and resources to survivors and their loved ones.
Attendees can anticipate comprehensive information on the criminal justice system and available support services on Friday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Velocity Center located at 6633 18 Mile Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48314. (north side of 18 Mile Rd., between Van Dyke Ave. and Mound Rd.)
This event offers insights into navigating the legal process and accessing vital resources such as restitution and support for healing.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido emphasizes, “Prosecution is not just about convictions, it's about helping victims and their families heal and get the resources that they deserve."
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office Crime Victim Rights Advocates will lead a discussion with assistant prosecuting attorneys, members of the judiciary, sheriff’s department, and community organizations including Turning Point and CareHouse to provide insights into navigating the aftermath of crime. Discussions will cover victim’s rights, available support services, restitution, and coping strategies, allowing attendees to engage with professionals and network with fellow survivors.
