Last week, the campaign to elect Nicole Huddleston Sixth Circuit Court Judge was proud to announce it has collected over 8,000 signatures and filed 7,800 to appear on the 2024 ballot.
Endorsed by Michigan Supreme Court Justice Kyra Harris Bolden and leaders from across the region, Huddleston serves as managing director of the Detroit Justice Center (DJC), on the Michigan Supreme Court’s Justice For All Commission, the State Planning Body and the Criminal Law Section Council. If successful, she will be the first Black woman elected to the Sixth Circuit bench who was not first appointed by the governor.
“As I speak with voters across the county, it’s clear that neighbors and community members are yearning for a bench that puts integrity, empathy, and respect at the center of the justice system,” Huddleston said. “I’ve dedicated my life to building stronger, safer families and communities and will take that same approach to serve on behalf of the people of Oakland County.”
Huddleston, a nearly 20-year resident of Oakland County, is an attorney and litigator who has represented clients throughout Southeastern Michigan for more than a decade. As managing director at the DJC, she oversees the organization’s Legal Services Practice, which has helped thousands of Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne County residents remain out of jail, regain custody of their kids, obtain jobs and housing, and legally get on the road. Before joining DJC, Huddleston worked as an assistant Wayne County prosecutor in its domestic violence division and as a staff attorney at Legal Aid and Defenders and Lakeshore Legal Aid.
Leaders from across the region have endorsed Nicole, citing her experience and commitment to the people of Oakland County, including:
Michigan Supreme Court Justice Kyra Harris Bolden
Ret. Michigan Supreme Court Justice Bridget Mary McCormack
State Senator Rosemary Bayer
State Senator Stephanie Chang
State Senator Jeremy Moss
