The Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan’s Child Abuse Prosecution Resources program will present a webinar on “Abusive Head Trauma in the Courtroom” Monday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to noon via Zoom.
In this training, Dr. Sarah Brown, child abuse pediatrician from Bronson Children’s Hospital, will address issues faced by child abuse and neglect professionals in cases of serious physical abuse/abusive head trauma cases and will help prosecutors be prepared to address the unique issues these cases face.

• Common Abusive and Accidental Injury Mechanisms & Timing
• Abusive Head Trauma: True Medical Mimics vs. the Internet
Brown is also medical director of Bronson Sexual Assault Services, providing services across Southwest Michigan. She completed her training and supervised practice in Child Abuse Pediatrics at the Center for Child Protection at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Her research interests include improving the diagnostic accuracy of Abusive Head Trauma, disparities in the medical evaluation of abusive injuries, and using the electronic medical record to prompt screening for abuse. Brown provides expert medical testimony to courts across the state in criminal, family, and civil matters.
