Mental health resources available throughout the week for victims of splash pad shooting in Rochester Hills

Oakland County and Oakland Community Health Network (OCHN) will continue to support the victims of Saturday’s splash pad shooting in Rochester Hills, their families, and those who were present at the tragic event with mental health resources throughout the week.

To aid in the recovery process, OCHN has opened a Family Assistance Center at the Rochester Hills Department of Public Services, 511 E. Auburn Road, where counselors will be available from 4-8 p.m. Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary. Clear signage by the road marks the entrance to the center.

“Our Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team has already been deployed to assist individuals experiencing trauma related to the recent shooting in Rochester Hills,” said OCHN’s Executive Director and CEO Dana Lasenby. “The team will continue to assist the community with resources and support during this difficult time.”

Individuals unable to visit the Family Assistance Center may call the Oakland County Nurse on Call to access mental health resources. This service can be reached at 800-848-5533 and is available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. One may also connect with the Michigan Crisis and Access Line by dialing 988 which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week or OCHN’s non-emergency behavioral health access department at 248-464-6363, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“The Oakland County community stands with the injured and their families, and unfortunately, just as we had to do in Oxford, we will be with the victims, their families and the community for as long as it takes,” said Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter. “I’m grateful for the quick response from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and first responders, and for the coordination between our Emergency Operations Center and other responding agencies.”

“My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and the Brooklands neighborhood. This tragic event has deeply affected us all, and our thoughts are with those still recovering in the hospital,” said Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett. “To those impacted, please prioritize your mental well-being and seek help if needed during this difficult time.”
