Law enforcement officers honored with Above and Beyond Award

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is commending law enforcement officials for their dedication to the communities they serve. This week, Nessel's Above and Beyond Award was presented to three police officers nominated by their departments for their outstanding efforts.

“Law enforcement officers are true heroes who often put their lives on the line to protect our communities,” Nessel said. “Some officers display extraordinary efforts and deserve special recognition. I was honored to recognize some of those who have gone above and beyond for their departments and the people they protect and serve.”

On Wednesday, Nessel honored Howell Police Department Deputy Chief Matthew Kelleher for his leadership as Accreditation Manager. Kelleher ensured the Howell Police Department met the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission’s (MLEAC) 126 accreditation standards, leading to the department’s reaccreditation in 2023.

The attorney general also honored Novi Police Department Officer Jacob Roberts and Detective Michael Marchetti Tuesday. Roberts was recognized for his leadership on Novi’s police vehicle design committee, overseeing the design of the city’s new patrol vehicles. Marchetti was honored for his effective partnership with the Department of Attorney General’s FORCE Team, building strong criminal cases and fostering exceptional relationships with local businesses.
