Choosing a judge to rule on cases and issue judgments should be an informed decision. To help Oakland County voters with that decision, the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) is partnering with the League of Women Voters-Oakland Area, the Oakland County Legal News, and the Oakland County Times to host Judicial Candidate Forums for all judicial races in Oakland County where there are contested seats.
The Oakland County 52-3 District Court Judicial Candidate Forum between candidates Ryan J. Deel and Laura E. Polizzi will take place Thursday, September 5, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Rochester Hills City Hall, 1000 Rochester Hills Drive in Rochester Hills. Persons interested in attending this forum must pre-register at ocba.org/judicial_candidates.
These forums are the result of a partnership between the Oakland County Bar Association, the League of Women Voters-Oakland Area, the Oakland County Legal News and the Oakland County Times that sponsors forums in all contested judicial races in Oakland County.
The purpose of this partnership is to disseminate information about judicial candidates in their communities to help voters become more knowledgeable and informed, encouraging participation in Oakland County judicial elections.
The forums are open to the public and will be recorded so they may be available for online viewing or potentially aired on local cable stations where available.
Additionally, all candidates have been asked to complete a Judicial Candidate Questionnaire. The completed questionnaires as well as specific information about each forum are available on the OCBA website at ocba.org/judicial_candidates. The questionnaires are posted exactly as the candidates submitted them.
