‘Firearms and Suicide Prevention’ focus of Community Discussion

The Oakland County Sucide Prevention Task Force will present a Community Discussion on “Firearms and Suicide Prevention: Armed with Knowledge” Thursday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at Oakland Community Health Network, 5505 Corporate Drive in Troy.

Attendees will learn about Michigan’s new gun safety laws, local gun violence prevention efforts and more about preventing suicide death by firearms.  

Featured speakers include:

• Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald

• Peter Perakis, MD, Head Trauma Surgeon at Corewell Health Troy

The public is invited to attend, including parents, grandparents, high school students, college students, police, fire, ems, teachers, public health, medical providers, behavioral health care providers, faith-based organizations.
