The Paralegal/Legal Assistant Section of the State Bar of Michigan will conduct its 2024 Day of Education and Annual Meeting on Friday, September 27, at Henry Ford Community College, ASCC Berry Amphitheater L-115, 5101 Evergreen Road in Dearborn.
The event schedule includes:
8:30-9 a.m.—Registration & Continental Breakfast
9-9:30 a.m.—Greeting From Council / Networking Activity
9:30-10:30 a.m.—Speaker Julia Capra on Hospice of Michigan
10:45-11:45 a.m.—Speaker Patrick O’Keefe on Criminal Law Updates
11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m.—Luncheon
12:30-1:30 p.m.—Speaker Lauren Kissel on Bike Law Updates
1:45-2:45 p.m.—Speaker Alexander Rusek on Artificial Intelligence
3-4 p.m.—Annual Meeting: Election of Council Members
The event is free to section members, $25 for non-members, and $5 for current paralegal students. Cash and checks will be accepted at registration. To register, email sbmparalegal@outlook.com.
The section will also host a social event the night before. Attendees will have the opportunity to get to know the Council and network with other legal professionals in a relaxed environment the evening before the Day of Education on Thursday, September 26, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Ford’s Garage, 21367 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn. Light appetizers will be provided. Attendees are responsible for their own drinks and other food items.
