Webinar focuses on family engagement in juvenile justice system, October 25

The Michigan Judicial Institute and Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice Services will present a webinar on “Collaborative Justice: Strengthening Partnerships Between Juvenile Justice Professionals and Families” Friday, October 25, from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

This webinar will explore the critical role of family engagement in the juvenile justice system, providing practical strategies and culturally based practices to foster effective collaboration. Juvenile justice professionals will gain the tools and knowledge necessary to create a unified approach that empowers both families and professionals, leading to better outcomes for youth and a more effective juvenile justice system.

Speaker, Cole Williams, executive director of The Delta Project, will discuss with viewers:

• Identifying and promoting family engagement practices that enhance communication and active participation between families and juvenile justice professionals.

• Developing essential skills to engage effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.

• Cultivating a culturally informed and inclusive environment that ensures families feel valued and included, thereby enhancing collaborative efforts.

The webinar is intended for Juvenile Justice County Implementation Team members, courts, law enforcement, school personnel, attorneys, social service providers, and other juvenile justice stakeholders.
