The State Bar of Michigan continues to celebrate October as Pro Bono Month. Established by the State Bar 17 years ago, the purpose of the month is to promote pro bono events and raise awareness of the need for pro bono legal services throughout Michigan.
Many legal services and organizations participate in October as Pro Bono Month by organizing legal clinics, pro bono attorney trainings, law school pro bono pledges, award ceremonies, and other events offering pro bono opportunities for attorneys wanting to help low-income Michigan individuals and families in need of legal assistance.
Attorneys looking to get involved with a pro bono event during Pro Bono Month can check out SBM’s A Lawyer Helps "Legal Clinics & Events Calendar" for events planned during Pro Bono Month?at www.michbar.org/alawyerhelps/home. Events are frequently added to the calendar.
To donate to the Access to Justice Campaign, visit https://e.michbar.org/Donations/ATJ?ID=ATJ. When making a gift to the ATJ Campaign, 100% of the donation for statewide current operations will be distributed to support civil legal aid to the poor throughout Michigan.
