State Bar podcast shows how positive psychology can benefit lawyers

The latest episode of the On Balance Podcast from the State Bar of Michigan features Jordana Confino, a certified professional coach, speaker, and expert in positive psychology.  

In this episode, Confino shares her insights on how lawyers and law students can cultivate well-being amidst the pressures of legal work, bettering their personal lives as well as their legal practices or education.  

Hosts JoAnn Hathaway and Molly Ranns discuss with Confino practical methods for identifying core values, managing perfectionism, and practicing self-compassion to thrive in both personal and professional life.

Confino is a Yale Law School graduate and founder of JC Coaching & Consulting. She is also an adjunct professor at Fordham Law School, where she teaches courses on Positive Lawyering and Peer Mentoring & Leadership. After working as an attorney  and in legal education at elite institutions, she used the science of positive psychology to make changes in her own life and is now focused on helping others due the same.  

Confino has also been a key contributor to the State Bar of Michigan’s wellness initiatives, having led two virtual wellness events in 2024 where she shared insights on building resilience through positive psychology and overcoming perfectionism.
