Flint settles discrimination lawsuit for $75,000

FLINT (AP) -- The City of Flint has agreed to pay $75,000 to settle a lawsuit that was filed by a former senior center employee who claimed she was dismissed from her job because she is white. The Flint Journal reports the settlement with Tina Conley was approved Monday by City Council. Conley's attorney Tom Pabst said his client was replaced as senior center director by a black man. Conley also claimed in her lawsuit against the city that she was let go for reporting suspected mismanagement of Flint's senior millage funds. City Attorney Peter Bade says the decision to settle followed a cost-benefit analysis of the case, as the city does with every lawsuit. Published: Fri, Aug 12, 2011
