Patterson declares Sept. 11-17 Patriot Week

Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson has declared Sept. 11-17 as Patriot Week in Oakland County in a proclamation issued last Friday. Patriot Week was created in 2009 by Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Michael Warren and his daughter Leah to renew America's spirit by celebrating the First Principles, Founding Fathers and other patriots, vital documents and speeches, and flags. "I encourage all Oakland County residents to participate in or create Patriot Week activities in their local communities," said Patterson. "Patriot Week is a time for Oakland County residents to commemorate the rule of law, equality, limited government and unalienable rights." Each day of Patriot Week promotes a First Principle on which the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are based. "In light of the tenth anniversary of 9/11, it's especially important to celebrate the values that made us the greatest nation in the history of the world," said Warren.
