Holder, officials honor victims of Sept. 11 attacks

By Eric Tucker Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) -- Attorney General Eric Holder and other officials are paying tribute in Washington to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Holder said at a ceremony outside the office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia that the nation is safer and stronger than it was before. He says the government is committed to keeping residents safe while protecting their civil liberties. U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen dedicated a new conference room plaque to Barbara Olson, the wife of former U.S. Solicitor Ted Olson. She was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon, and an assistant U.S. attorney in Washington from 1992 to 1995.
