Man indicted by grand jury in mother's slaying

PONTIAC (AP) -- A 21-year-old Oakland County man has been indicted by a citizen's grand jury in the beating and stabbing death of his 51-year-old mother. Jeffrey Pyne was arraigned Wednesday in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac on a charge of first-degree murder. Ruth Pyne was found dead May 27 inside the garage of their Highland Township home. Prosecutor Jessica Cooper said the grand jury compelled testimony from relatives, friends and co-workers. The grand jury has been reviewing unsolved homicides since June. Jeffrey Pyne was being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail. The Associated Press was unable Wednesday to determine if he had an attorney. Published: Fri, Oct 14, 2011
