Chrysler sets big expansion at Ohio assembly plant
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Chrysler is set to roll out expansion plans expected to bring at least 1,000 jobs to an Ohio assembly complex.
The automaker announced the plans Wednesday at its Toledo assembly plant. State and local officials already have signed off on incentives for the project.
Chrysler Group LLC sought millions to enlarge the plant where it already makes the Jeep Liberty and Wrangler along with the Dodge Nitro.
The automaker has about 2,500 employees at the plant. Workers there hope this will be the first of several new job announcements.
Chrysler says CEO Sergio Marchionne and Ohio Gov. John Kasich will be on hand Wednesday.
