Sedlers honored for service

Wayne State University Law School Professor of Law Robert Sedler (right) and his wife Rozanne (left) were honored by the American Jewish Committee (AJC)—Detroit Regional Office with its Community Service Award on Monday, Dec. 5, at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.

Congratulating the Sedlers was AJC’s Associate General Counsel Marc Stern (center) who was also the guest speaker for the evening.

The Community Service Award is presented to leaders who, through their skills, influence and dedication, have demonstrated a profound commitment to improving the community.

Prof. Sedler teaches courses in Constitutional Law and Conflict of Laws at Wayne Law.  He has litigated a large number of civil rights and civil liberties cases, mostly as a volunteer lawyer for the ACLU of Michigan.  He has lectured on American Constitutional Law at universities in Russia and the Netherlands and has participated in roundtables at Oxford University in England. This year marks his 50th year as a law professor.

Rozanne Sedler currently serves on the Board of Citizens for Better Care and is a past president of the ACLU of Oakland County.  She has also served on the Commission on Senior Activities of the City of Southfield and in 2009 was appointed as a layperson member of the Michigan Attorney Grievance Commission.  She has been a clinical social worker at Jewish Family Service since 1986 and works in the area of geriatrics.
