Mich. wind farm critics can press case in court

LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) -- A northern Michigan judge says a group opposed to a major wind farm near Lake Michigan can take its arguments to court. Consumers Energy and Mason County claim the group has no standing to sue, but Judge Richard Cooper disagreed. The Citizens' Alliance for Responsible Renewable Energy is trying to stop decisions that would accommodate Lake Winds Energy Park, a project with 56 wind turbines and additional towers in Riverton and Summit townships. Opponents say they're concerned about land values and the use of their property. The next court hearing is today in Ludington, about 90 miles north of Grand Rapids. Published: Wed, Jan 4, 2012
