Attorneys to be featured at HR summit

Butzel Long attorneys Rebecca S. Davies, John P. Hancock Jr., Scott T. Patterson and James S. Rosenfeld will be featured speakers during the 3rd Annual Walsh Institute HR Summit on Thursday, March 8, at Walsh College's Troy campus. Butzel Long is a sponsor of the event. During the HR and management education program, Davies will discuss employment law updates every employer must know. Hancock's presentation will address the problem employee. Patterson will discuss social media in the workplace and, Rosenfeld will discuss risk reduction: how to avoid calling your lawyer. "Attendees will gain added insight on a variety of matters that can impact all HR departments." Davies concentrates her practice primarily in the areas of employment law and commercial litigation. She represents employers in federal and state court litigation and before state and federal administrative agencies. Davies regularly counsels employers regarding compliance under federal and state employment laws (including FLSA, FMLA, ADA and Title VII), drafts policies and procedures, and advises on preventative strategies. Hancock's practice focuses on collective bargaining negotiations and arbitrations as well as counseling of both public and private employers. He has also done employment litigation and OSHA litigation. Hancock has served as chief negotiator in numerous collective bargaining negotiations for public schools, municipal and public utilities as well as clients in various other businesses ranging from casinos to steel plants to hospitals and country clubs. A good portion of his practice is devoted to counseling clients on employment issues. Patterson represents employers in labor and employment law and business-related immigration matters. He has experience representing employers in state and federal courts and before government agencies in defense of employment-related claims such as those involving allegations of sexual harassment, race, age, gender and disability discrimination, wrongful discharge and alleged violations of various state and federal statutes. Patterson also represents employers in arbitration proceedings and collective bargaining negotiations. Rosenfeld practices in the area of labor and employment law and serves as the manager of Butzel Long's Labor and Employment Practice Group. He has experience in litigating a wide variety of labor and employment cases, including trial and appellate work in both state and federal court.
