Board of Commissioners seeks to fill vacant seat

Oakland County Board of Commissioners Chairman Michael J. Gingell announces that the board will fill the recently open commission seat in District # 11, no later than April 4. Gingell states: "The statute provides that the board has up to 30 days to fill the vacant seat so that the local communities will not have to incur the costs of conducting a special election. The board will act on this vacancy within the 30 day time limit." The commission seat representing the communities of Auburn Hills and portions of Rochester Hills and Pontiac became vacant following the recent election of former Oakland County Commissioner Tim Greimel to the Michigan State House of Representatives on Feb. 28. Residents living in one of the three communities in District #11, who are interested in completing the remainder of the commission term ending on Dec. 31, 2012, should send their qualifications to the attention of Oakland County Board of Commissioners' Chairman Michael J. Gingell, at the Oakland County Board of Commissioners, 1200 North Telegraph Road, Pontiac, 48341, no later than Monday, March 19.
