One Stop Shop Mobile Offices offer convenience to residents

Oakland County Clerk Bill Bullard Jr. recently announced the latest expansion of his Mobile Office program with the addition of office hours at Secretary of State branches throughout Oakland County. The first will be today at the South Oakland County Office at 25263 Telegraph Rd. in Southfield. "We are excited about our partnership with Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and the One Stop Shop Mobile Office concept," Bullard said. "We have been expanding our mobile offices into various community events, but this is a new level of convenience for Oakland County residents." "This is a win-win for Oakland County residents because they'll have an opportunity to take care of county business and conduct Secretary of State transactions at the same time," Johnson said. "Working together, we're able to make government more accessible and convenient for everyone." Johnson has been a proponent of the use of mobile offices. As the previous Oakland County clerk, she partnered with local libraries across the county to provide a full-service mobile branch office and today operates a full-service mobile office for the Secretary of State that travels across the state. "This is about providing the best possible customer service," Johnson said. "When a mobile office comes to someone's community, it means customers don't have to drive to a distant central office, find a place to park and wait in line. This saves them time, frustration and gas money." The Oakland County Mobile Office is an efficient no-frills operation. Employees set up laptop computers and printers to provide customers with on-the-spot copies of birth certificates, death certificates and other public records. Normal copy fees apply. Citizens can access many services, including: * Certified Copies of Birth, Death and Marriage Records. * Marriage License Applications. * Notary Public Applications. * Registration of Assumed Names and Co-Partnerships. * Military Discharge Forms. * Copies of Property Records and Deeds. * Oakland County Circuit Court Records. * Identity Protection Information. * Voter Registration. * Absentee Ballot Application Forms. * Concealed Pistol License. The planned schedule for the One Stop Shop Mobile Offices is as follows: --Friday, April 27, 1 to 5 p.m., 1111 E. Long Lake Rd in Troy. --Friday, June 1, 1 to 5 p.m., 31164 Beck Rd in Novi. --Friday, June 29, 1 to 5 p.m., 672 N. Milford Rd. in Highland. --Friday, July 27, 1 to 5 p.m., 4301 Orchard Lake Rd. in West Bloomfield. --Friday, Aug. 24, 1 to 5 p.m., 2250 Crooks Rd. in Rochester Hills. Bullard stressed there is no additional expense associated with the Mobile Office because resources, including employees and computers, are simply being redeployed in regional locations. "Our job is to provide citizens the best possible service at the lowest possible cost, whether we are serving them in their community, or at our main office in the Oakland County Courthouse in Pontiac," Bullard said.
