Pontiac Silverdome tax break request denied

PONTIAC (AP) -- Pontiac's emergency financial manager has rejected a request from the owner of the Silverdome for a tax break to help fix up the former home of the Detroit Lions. The Detroit News and The Oakland Press report Lou Schimmel said Monday the group didn't reveal planned major renovations for the facility or property. He said the proposal included a list of $4.6 million in maintenance projects and said it would cost $100 million to fix up the stadium. Schimmel has said the city currently gets $95,000 a year in taxes for the property. Earlier this month, Triple Investment Group said it was seeking the break.
