Genisys donates Casual Fund to local charities
Genisys Credit Union is donating $10,000 from their Casual Fund to several charities benefiting Michigan communities.
"Each year, we choose different organizations to receive a portion of the fund," said Jackie Buchanan, chief executive officer. "These groups 'Make A Difference' in the communities where we are located, which is what Genisys tries to do throughout the year with our community involvement efforts."
The American Heart Association, Lighthouse of Oakland County's Hunger Walk, Michigan Arthritis Foundation, and Relay for Life's Waterford Walk have each been selected to receive $2,500 this year.
The Genisys Casual Fund is comprised of Jean's Day donations throughout the year, making this one of the many ways that Genisys employees give back and demonstrate one of the organization's core values of being people focused.
Last year, Genisys sponsored around 310 community events by providing monetary donations, gifts-in-kind and more than 4,000 hours of hands-on volunteer support. Genisys also recently gave nearly $30,000 to Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) for Walk for Warmth as a result of donations from members and staff, as well as more than $29,000 to United Way through its employee drive.
