Points on public education

Dickinson Wright PLLC hosted its first Sunrise Seminar of the year on Wednesday, March 28, at Automation Alley in Troy.

Dickinson Wright member George P. Butler III (pictured) provided a look at “What in the World is Happening with Michigan Elementary & Secondary Public Education: Why Do I Need to Know and Why Should I Care?”

“Today I’m trying to give the audience an overview of the direction the public education in Michigan is traveling—what the landscape looks like, how it’s changed, predicting what I think the future is going to be for public education in Michigan,” said Butler.

He also stressed the the importance of the legal changes in public education to the business community: “What’s in it for them and why should they be concerned about the direction public education is taking and how it’s being reformed.”

Butler’s clients include several schools and colleges in southeast Michigan. He is a member of the Michigan and National Council of School Attorneys.
