Meisner hosting realtor training for tax sale home ownership program

Oakland County Treasurer Andy Meisner will join with the North Oakland County Board of Realtors and other local Realtor organizations to conduct a training workshop today, June 28, for Realtors interested in participating in an innovative public private partnership that enlists the Realtors' expertise in connecting potential homeowners with abandoned, tax foreclosed properties. "Public private partnerships are a great way to harness the expertise of the private sector in tackling public policy challenges," said Meisner. "Last year's pilot program with the Realtors significantly boosted average sales prices, gross sales and number of properties sold to families, so I'm excited to see what value we can provide for Oakland County taxpayers this year. "Our office offers very flexible payment plans to taxpayers with back taxes, but where taxpayers refuse to pay their fair share, state law requires the sale of their property."
