Genisys sponsors Wet & Wild Wednesdays

Genisys Credit Union sponsored Wet and Wild Wednesdays from July 11th to August 8th at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm.  “Wet and Wild Wednesdays is one of the most successful events at our facility each year – five Wednesdays in the summer with perfect weather,” said Patrick J. McKay, Museum supervisor.

“This event was a collaboration between the Rochester Hills Fire Department and Genisys Credit Union to create a safe, fun, affordable family event that will provide lasting support to the museum through new museum members. This event could never have been this successful without Genisys Credit Union.”

Around 1,100 people attended these events each week. These Wednesdays provided a low-cost community/family event that includes entertainment in the museum gazebo and then water fun the on museum grounds. Educational displays by the Rochester Hills Fire Department and the Clinton River Watershed Council provide an educational back drop to loads of cool water fun. This event also introduced thousands of people to the programs and facilities at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm.

“This is just one of the many great events that we sponsor, which are hosted by the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm,” said Jackie Buchanan, Genisys chief executive officer.

Guests tried the slip and slide, walked under thousands of gallons of water from the 102 foot Rochester Hills Fire Department ladder truck, splashed in Stoney Creek, visited the Children’s Garden or toured the exhibits.

The museum also supports four different entertainers, and one week was devoted to the Van Hoosen Farm Children’s Music Festival where kids were the performers. Admission was school supplies to help less fortunate kids get ready for school.

“Genisys has supported this event for several years, and it gets better and bigger because of their financial support,” said McKay. “Our record crowd is 1,700 people, and over 20 staff and volunteers are needed to make this a safe and refreshing way to break the summer heat.”
