Son bound over in Troy father's brutal death
TROY (AP) -- A 22-year-old suburban Detroit man has been bound over on open murder in connection with the brutal beating death of his father.
A judge on Monday also ordered a request by Patrick Mikes Jr.'s defense lawyer to suppress evidence found while searching the home of 55-year-old Patrick Mikes Sr., whose body was found dumped in a Montrose Township field Aug. 10. Evidence included bloody clothing, a sleeping bag and bedding.
Oakland County's chief medical examiner previously testified that Mikes Sr. was struck in the head at least four times with an "oblong blunt object" like a pipe or baseball bat.
Mikes Jr. faces up to life in prison if convicted. He's pleaded not guilty.
His arraignment in Oakland County Circuit Court is scheduled by Oct. 15.
