People's Law College answers legal questions at free clinic, April 2
Anyone dealing with a landlord/tenant, social security, disability, driver's license, expungement, or debt issue should attend the Oakland County Bar Association's free People's Law College on Tuesday, April 2, at the Jack & Patti Salter Community Center in Royal Oak from 6 to 8 p.m.
This free event is designed to help educate members of the community on different areas of the law and to assist attendees in finding answers to their legal questions with first-hand insight from Oakland County attorneys.
There will be four seminar sessions with two running simultaneously. The first two topics, "Landlord/Tenant Issues" with Marc P. Jerabek of Plunkett Cooney and "Social Security Benefits, Retirement and Disability" with Paula M. Zimmer of Lakeshore Legal Aid, will run from 6 to 6:50 p.m. The second two sessions, "Driver's License Restoration and Expungements" with Raymond A. Correll of Raymond A. Correll PC and "Debt Solution" with Amy Parton from GreenPath, will take place from 7 to 7:50 p.m.
A free Ask-a-Lawyer session will also be held for the duration of the program. The Ask-a-Lawyer portion allows attendees to speak privately with a volunteer attorney about their personal questions and concerns. The attorneys will be able to discuss topics including juvenile, family, probate, criminal, general civil and landlord/tenant matters.
This is a free event but registration is appreciated. Anyone interested in attending should call the Oakland County Bar Association at 248-334-3400. The Salter Community Center is located at 1545 E. Lincoln Ave. in Royal Oak.
