Post Foods to invest $30M in Battle Creek plant

BATTLE CREEK (AP) -- Cereal maker Post Foods says it plans to invest $30 million in a West Michigan facility, creating 92 jobs. The Battle Creek Enquirer and WOOD-TV report that the company made the announcement Wednesday. The plan includes closing a plant in California. The company could be in line for property tax abatement in Battle Creek. The Michigan Strategic Fund has awarded a $700,000 business development grant. Post Foods was founded in Battle Creek in the 1890s. Its cereal brands include Honey Bunches of Oats and Grape-Nuts. The company is headquartered in Brentwood, Mo., and has manufacturing facilities in Arkansas and Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Post had been owned by St. Louis-based Ralcorp Holdings Inc., but the store-brand food maker spun Post off last year to focus on its core business. Published: Fri, Jun 14, 2013
