Council Against Domestic Violence to honor award recipients at ceremony

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, from noon to 1 p.m., the Oakland County Coordinating Council Against Domestic Violence (OCCCADV) will host its annual Domestic Violence Prevention Awards Ceremony. The event will take place in the Oakland County Commissioner's Auditorium at 1200 N. Telegraph Road in Pontiac. The OCCCADV will honor six community members who have demonstrated exemplary service to victims of domestic violence. "Their efforts increase the safety of victims and raise awareness about domestic violence in our community," said Oakland Circuit Court Judge Lisa Gorcyca, chair of the OCCCADV. This ceremony also will memorialize domestic violence victims who have tragically lost their lives in Oakland County and will feature a performance by The Cranbrook-Kingswood Madrigals from Cranbrook Schools. Domestic Violence Prevention Award recipients include: Assistant Prosecutor Jason Pernick from the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office; Patricia Gregory, a HAVEN volunteer; Jill Vandercook, a HAVEN volunteer; Detective Autumn Ceci from the Southfield Police Department; Cindy Livermore, Jody Heicklen, James Nestro, and Basile Valtadoros, social workers and patient representatives from Royal Oak Beaumont; and the Farmington Hills High Risk Response Team.
